Numbers 15:30 - The Sin of Death.

Num.15:30: The Sin of Death.

Num 15:30 (KJV) But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously,
whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the
LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Num 15:30 (NIV) "'But anyone who sins defiantly, whether
native-born or alien, blasphemes the LORD, and that person must be cut off
from his people.

Num 15:30 (TEV) But any person who sins deliberately, whether
he is a native or a foreigner, is guilty of treating the LORD with
contempt, and he shall be put to death,

Num 15:30 (NCV) "'But anyone who sins on purpose is against the
LORD and must be cut off from the people, whether it is someone born
among you or a foreigner.

Num 15:30 (NLT) "But those who brazenly violate the Lord's

Num 15:30 (EAV) But the person who does anything [wrong]
willfully and openly, whether he is native-born or a stranger, that one
reproaches, reviles, and blasphemes the Lord, and that person shall be cut
off from among his people [that the atonement made for them may not
include him].

Presumption see Pride:
Some of the synonyms for pride include arrogance, presumption,
conceit, self-satisfaction, boasting, and high-mindedness. It is the
opposite of humility, the proper attitude one should have in relation to
God. Pride is rebellion against God because it attributes to self the
honor and glory due to God alone. Proud persons do not think it
necessary to ask forgiveness because they do not admit their sinful
condition?. Some have considered pride to be the root and essence of sin.
Others consider it to be sin in its final form. In either case, it is a
grievous sin. Gerald Cowen [Holman?s Bible Dictionary]

The expression "with a high hand" is translated "with boldness"?
amounted to blasphemy, the rejection of the Lord and His covenant,? This,
rather than its being committed knowingly, was what classified it as a
sin for which there was no sacrifice. [Believer?s SB]

Probably the presumption mentioned here implied an utter
contempt of the word and authority of God, springing from an idolatrous
or atheistical mind. In such a case all repentance was precluded,
because of the denial of the word and being of God. (Adam Clarke
Commentary)

There are those who, in many instances, come short of fulfilling
the word, and yet have a great value for it, and count the law
honourable; but presumptuous sinners despise it, thinking themselves too
great, too good, and too wise, to be ruled by it. (Matthew Henry's
Commentary)

The sacrifice offered by the high priest on the Day of Atonement
covered ?all sins.? [Victor Bible Reader?s Companion]

Walter C. Kaiser, Jr., compares the ?sin of the high hand? of
this passage with the NT expression of the offense of blasphemy
against the Holy Spirit (Heb 10:26-39). He writes, ?As such it becomes
an unpardonable sin, since it represents high treason and revolt
against God?. This verse should not be understood to include all manner
of evil actions; for most were subject to forgiveness. The verse
deals with outrageous behavior of blasphemy, [Expositors Bible
Commentary]

Matt. 12:31 (KJV) Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin
and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against
the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

Presumptuous sin is willful, selfish sin where one is only
interested in pleasing themselves with no regard for God and their fellow
man. This is the great sin that if unchecked becomes the
unpardonable sin. Help us Lord! Oh how we need to watch and pray that we
enter not into temptation. How much we need to keep the heart with
all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. Oh how we need
to abide in Jesus and walk in the light as He is in the light. How
we need to pray without ceasing and walking after the Spirit that
we don?t walk in the flesh. Help us Lord to keep our eyes upon
Thee our only safeguard in the this old sinful world and weighted
down with these old sinful natures. Thank You for what You have done
and are doing for us Lord. In Your precious name I pray, Amen
