1 Kings 2:3 - Blessings Come With Obedience.

1 Kings 2:3: Blessings Come With Obedience.

1 Ki 2:3 (KJV) And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk
in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his
judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that
thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou
turnest thyself:

1 Ki 2:3 (NCV) Obey the LORD your God. Follow him by obeying
his demands, his commands, his laws, and his rules that are written
in the teachings of Moses. If you do these things, you will be
successful in all you do and wherever you go.

1 Ki 2:3 (CWR) Do what God says. Keep His commandments and
laws that He gave thorough His servant Moses, and He'll bless and
prosper you in everything you do. God gave those laws for our own
good.

The ways of God were ways of righteousness and peace... All the
laws of God were given for the benefit of man. God placed His
children under law because He desired to see them happy and prosperous.
His prescriptions and injunctions were not given to display His
supreme authority but to ensure the welfare and happiness of the
children of earth. Walking in harmony with the laws of Heaven, man was to
find joy, peace, contentment of spirit, health of body, and fullness
of life. Disobeying those laws would bring trouble, sorrow,
sickness, woe, pain, and death. [SDA Commentary]

We see in these verses a basic principle, not an absolute
law. Typically, when we follow God's ways, we will be better off than
when we go our own way. Still, suffering may come to those who are
righteous-in fact, sometimes it may come because they are righteous.
God has promised to bless those who obey him. When the
wicked prosper, two things should be remembered: (1) God's patience and
mercy permit many to enjoy things they do not deserve (Matt. 5:45),
and (2) justice is not completed in this lifetime. [Quest SB]

God cannot bless those who refuse to be faithful stewards. All
He can do is to permit Satan to accomplish his destroying work.

Success always depends on obedience to God's Word. While the
wicked may prosper financially for a time, true success is measured in
the realm of eternity and only those who are faithful will achieve
it. [Passages Of Life SB]

If you want success in life, then all your activities must
reflect God's will. Today, make God the center of your life. Ask God to
show you what successful living means for you. Then, rest easy in
God's peace and his plans. [Inspirational SB]
