Proverbs 23:7a - What You Think - - You Are.

Pro.23:7a: What You Think - - You Are.

Prov 23:7 (KJV) For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat
and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

Prov 23:7 (NNAS) For as he thinks within himself, so he is. He
says to you, "Eat and drink!" But his heart is not with you.

Prov 23:7 (TEV) "Come on and have some more," he says, but he
doesn't mean it. What he thinks is what he really is.

The 8th saying. [Bible Knowledge Commentary]

A man is as he thinks. [SDA Commentary]

"As he is all along in his heart, so is he (at last) in act."

Thoughts have much to do with the formation of character. MYP144

Repetitive thoughts lead to action. [Pastor Steve Wallace]

Watch your thoughts, they become words; watch your words, they
become actions; watch your actions, they become habits; watch your
habits, they become character; watch your character, it will be your
destiny. Author Unknown

Yet we have a work to do to resist temptation. Those who would
not fall a prey to Satan's devices must guard well the avenues of
the soul; they must avoid reading, seeing, or hearing that which
will suggest impure thoughts. The mind should not be left to wander
at random upon every subject that the adversary of souls may
suggest. "Girding up the loins of your mind," says the apostle Peter, "Be
sober, . . . not fashioning yourselves according to your former lusts
in . . . your ignorance: but like as He which called you is holy,
be ye yourselves also holy in all manner of living." 1 Peter
1:13-15, R.V. Says Paul, "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things
are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if
there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these
things." Philippians 4:8. This will require earnest prayer and unceasing
watchfulness. We must be aided by the abiding influence of the Holy Spirit,
which will attract the mind upward, and habituate it to dwell on pure
and holy things. And we must give diligent study to the word of God.
"Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto
according to Thy word." "Thy word," says the psalmist, "have I hid in mine
heart, that I might not sin against Thee." Psalm 119:9, 11. PP460

it are the issues of life.

Prov 16:3 (KJV) Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy

2 Cor 3:18 (KJV) But we all, with open face beholding as in a

glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Cor 3:18 (CWR) Our faces are no longer covered, and as we
look at the glory of the Lord, we're changed. We reflect more and
more of His image by the power of the Spirit working on our hearts.
