The following commentary was submitted in response to the
Matthew 6:33 Devotional; God First And Last And Best In Everything!
Mat 6:33 (KJV) Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Mat 6:33 (NCV) The thing you should want most is God's kingdom
and doing what God wants. Then all these other things you need will
be given to you.
Mat 6:33 (EAV) But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all
His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being
right), and then all these things taken together will be given you
This world brings us to a point of no return. No matter how fast
we run there is never enough time, money or effort. We can never
seem to reach the 'unreachable quest'. And of course that is the way
the world wants it, the way it is designed - to uphold failure. What
a striking contrast when we decide to pursue life under His
guidance. The material world fades. The world's goals vaporize like the
mist and we are content, no matter our circumstances to wait on His
blessings, His Word. We become successful in our lives 'against' what the
world envisions and in a way they cannot understand. Disaster strikes
and we pray. He calms our heart, eases our minds and leads us
safely to a place where we are confident all will end well. Differently
perhaps but safely in His hands. Stress becomes a foreign word and the
world wonders why we aren't 'concerned', how are we 'ever' going to
get through this. We smile and say, "His name is Jesus." For many
of us we may never see the world's 'material' wealth but we are
comfortable where we are. The world says we have no ambition. We remind
them in our living that we 'are' successful, our life is more than
satisfactory and we are 'living' well. In our world where He lives, chaos
never enters, contentment reigns and we view the world with sadness,
praying that the world in all its guilded glory will, one day, look at
our reflection and find its way to shed the cloak of never ending
failure and deception. Find its way to a life that thrives on every
Word He ever spoke and be transformed, becoming itself a part of the
reflection it once only saw in passing. "Be still and know that I am God."
