Psalm 127:3-5 - Children Are A Gift From God.

Psalms 127:3-5: Children Are A Gift From God.

Psalms 127:3-5 (NASB) Behold, children are a gift of the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a
warrior, So are the children of one's youth. How blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them; They will not be ashamed When they speak
with their enemies in the gate.

Children are a gift and a heritage, so appreciate them and guard
them. They are like fruit, so lovingly cultivate them. They can be
arrows for fighting the Lord's battles, so keep them polished and sharp
and aimed in the right direction. Give yourself to building a home,
not just a house, and building for the future, not just the present.

How We Live - Raising Our Children
Too often in our society, children are seen as liabilities
rather than assets. In the United States alone, more than 40 million
children have been discarded through abortion. But the Bible calls
children a "gift from the Lord" (127:3).
Jesus understood this, even at one time rebuking his disciples
when they thought children were not worth their Master's time. Jesus
wanted the children to come to him because they had the attitude needed
to approach God - one of pure love, sincere trust, and amazed
wonder. They teach valuable lessons with their inquisitive minds and
trusting innocence. That's why Jesus said, "Let the children come to me.
Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are
like these children" (Matthew 19:14).
If you are a parent, you have been given a precious gift in your
child - and a great responsibility. The example you set for your child
shapes his or her life, heart, attitudes, and future. When you build a
strong family centered on God, and when you discipline wisely and train
lovingly, your children will grow up to repeat that process in their own
families. [The One Year Bible for New Believers re Psa.127:3-5]
