2 Peter 1:2 - God's Kindness And Peace Can Be Yours.

2 Pet.1:2: God's Kindness And Peace Can Be Yours.

2 Pet 1:2 (TLB) Do you want more and more of God's kindness and
peace? Then learn to know him better and better.

Grace and peace are multiplied to the Christian, they increase
more and more, as he comes to know Jesus Christ better and better.
The better we know Jesus, the greater the wonder of grace, and the
more real our experience of the peace which passeth all
understanding. [Barclay]

Knowledge of Christ is personal acquaintance with Christ; it is
knowing Him as a person and entering day by day into a closer and more
intimate relationship with Him. [Barclay]

Many believers want an abundance of God's grace and peace, but
they are unwilling to put forth the effort to get to know him better
through Bible study and prayer. To enjoy the privileges God offers us
freely, we have "the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord." [Life
Application SB]

Do you want more and more of God's kindness and peace? Then
learn to know him better and better. For as you know him better, he
will give you, through his great power, everything you need for
living a truly good life: he even shares his own glory and his own
goodness with us! And by that same mighty power he has given us all the
other rich and wonderful blessings he promised; for instance, the
promise to save us from the lust and rottenness all-round us and to give
us his own character. But to obtain these gifts, you need more
than faith; you must also work hard to be good, and even that is not
enough. For then you must learn to know God better and discover what he
wants you to do. Next, learn to put aside your own desires
(self-control) so that you will become patient and godly, gladly letting God
have his way with you. This will make possible the next step, which
is for you to enjoy other people and to like them, and finally you
will grow to love them deeply. Self-control is something that comes
as we grow progressively closer to God. Taking one step at a time,
one day at a time, God will give us his own character, including
self-control. [Life Recovery SB]

Power for the present (1-11). When you trusted Christ, He gave
you all that you need for life and godliness. All you have to do is
to appropriate what you need from His resources. His Word feeds the
divine nature within, and you can grow in knowledge and in grace. This
is not automatic; you must be diligent to use the means of grace
that God has provided. [Chapter by Chapter Bible Commentary by Warren
Wiersbe re 2Pe.1:2, 3]
