Psalm 55:22 - Can't Take Anymore? Then Take It To The Lord!

Psalm 55:22 (KJV)  Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall 
sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. 

Psalm 55:22 (NIV)  Cast your cares on the LORD and he will 
sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. 

Psalm 55:22 (NCV)  Give your worries to the LORD, and he will 
take care of you. He will never let good people down. 

  Troubles around him (vv. 1-3), terrors within him (vv. 4-5), 
and treachery next to him (vv. 12-15, 21) combined to make David 
wish he could get away from it all (v. 6). It was not easy being 
God's anointed king, for with the privileges came great burdens and 
responsibilities, and God's enemies became David's enemies. Leadership is not 
easy. 
  David wanted wings like a dove so he could fly away from the 
storm. What he really needed were wings like an eagle so he could fly 
above the storm (Isa. 40:31). How do you get them? By going into the 
Holy of Holies, under the shadow of His wings (Psa. 57:1; 91:1-4). 
When you call on the Lord (v. 16) and cast your burdens on Him (v. 
22), He enables you to overcome. 
  You cannot fly beyond the storm because you will find problems 
everywhere, but you can fly above the storm. God permits the burdens you 
face today to help you "win your wings." Claim verse 22 and 1 Peter

There are times when, like the psalmist, we feel pursued by 
enemies or surrounded by difficulties. Our enemy may be financial 
trouble, ill health, or a person who misjudges or opposes us so that our 
"heart is in anguish" (v. 4). At that point we may be tempted to run 
away, retreat, or give up. But the Lord offers us something better. In 
this psalm, trials and problems cause us to cry out to him. Someone 
once said, "If you are swept off your feet, it's time to get on your 
knees." God encourages us to turn to him and call on him in our distress 
so that he can rescue us and keep us safe in the midst of the 
trouble. He may not immediately take us out of the situation, but he will 
guide us through the circumstances. He gives us a wonderful promise: 
If we give our burdens to him, he will take care of us and not

Life is hard. We come face-to-face with some pretty tough stuff 
as we journey through the years - difficult relationships, 
sickness, stress, the death of a loved one - things that leave us feeling 
weak and hopeless. We don't need to bear these burdens alone. God 
wants us to give our worries and cares to Him (Matthew 11:28). He'll

  What to do when you are attacked by the enemy:
  Take your burdens to the Lord. It is good to talk things over 
with others, but only the Lord can work in your heart and turn fear 
into faith. God knows everything the enemy says and writes, and He 
has a perfect plan. By faith, take everything to Him in prayer. 
  Listen for God's message. The words of the enemy will 
discourage you, but God's Word will encourage you. In every battle, His 
word to you is, "Do not be afraid" (v. 6). After all, He has 
everything under control. 
  Seek to glorify God alone. "Hallowed be Thy name" must be your 
primary prayer. 
  Trust God to work. God can handle the enemy far better than 
you can. 
  Trust God after the victory. Your future is in God's hands.

You're going to face problems--today, tomorrow, and in the days 
to come. No one is immune. However, as a believer, you have a new 
way to deal with problems because your faith now plays a role in 
helping you find a solution. You no longer have to depend on your own
