Revelation 3:20 - Invite Jesus Into Your Life And A Relationship
Develops. (addendum)

Revelation 3:20 (KJV) Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if
any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and
will sup with him, and he with me.

Revelation 3:20 (CWR) I am standing at your heart's door,
knocking. Anyone who hears my voice and opens the door will be glad, for
I will come in and eat with him and he with me.

Revelation 3:20 (TLB) Look! I have been standing at the door,
and I am constantly knocking. If anyone hears me calling him and
opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with him and he with
me.

CONTEXT: Letter to the Church in Laodicea: Rev. 3:14-22.

  In 1968, I was a twenty-seven-year-old sports executive living
the dream. As general manager for the Phillies farm club in
Spartanburg, South Carolina, I had recognition, a nice salary, and a
promising future. Everything except fulfillment. Why did I feel so empty
and confused?
Looking back, I can see how God orchestrated a series of
events that had me bumping into a succession of Christians. These
people had qualities I didn't--purpose, confidence, and contentment in
every circumstance. Needing a break from the intense preparation for
my fourth season in Spartanburg, I eagerly said yes to an
invitation to go to a local concert. The pretty blonde on stage sang
Christian folk songs and spoke about Jesus as if she knew him. I had to
meet her and find out more. Her name was Sandy Johnson, and I'll
always be grateful she had the courage and wisdom to hand me a booklet
called "The Four Spiritual Laws."
Later that night, when I read Revelation 3:20, I was blown
away. Was God really that close? Could I really meet him? Sandy agreed
to meet me for breakfast, where she explained that Jesus was, in
fact, gently knocking and all I had to do was "lift the latch and
invite him in." Later that day--February 22, 1968--that's exactly what I
did, and God soon brought me to a place of fulfillment and purpose
that has stayed with me through forty seasons of baseball,
basketball, and life itself

God is waiting for you. He's knocking on the door of your heart
right now. Invite Him in, and open your heart to everything He has to
offer. Prepare to be infused with an abundance of peace and joy that
only He can bring into your life (John 15:1 1). [The 365 Daily
