Romans 10:17 - Faith And God's Word Is Really Living!
Romans 10:17 (NKJV) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing
by the word of God.

is, why we need it, how we can receive it--can be found in God's
Word. God blesses us when we hear His promises and respond in faith to

EXAMPLE
If you wonder about the power of Bible study, consider what
happened with Josiah. As the king listened to the reading of the law, he
was so convicted that he tore his clothes, showing his remorse.
Things had to change, and they had to change right then. Reforms were
instituted immediately. Shrines to other gods were destroyed, and all the
people pledged to renew their covenant with the Lord. The reading of
God's Word produced drastic changes for the better in an entire
nation.
You have right here in your hand the most amazing resource
for living--including the words read to Josiah so many centuries ago.
Praying is how you communicate with God; studying God's Word is how he
communicates with you. It is powerful and sharp as a sword (Hebrews 4:12),
but you need to read with an open heart, ready to do what it says.
God had mercy on Josiah because he humbled himself and repented.
Whenever a verse of Scripture pierces your soul, don't be afraid to admit
where you've been wrong and ask for God's forgiveness. Then do as
Josiah did--get moving in the right direction! [The One Year Bible for
