John 11:35 - JESUS WEPT.

John 11:35: JESUS WEPT.

John 11:35 (KJV) Jesus Wept.

COMMENTARY PEARL

The shortest verse in the Bible just might be the most
profound. "Jesus wept." God cried. Who is this God Who cries?
He's a God who knows all things, from the beginning to the
end. And He's all-powerful. My friend, Char, likes to say there are
no cracks in His love, which means He's all-loving. There are no
instances in which God is not loving, no circumstantial cracks for us to
fall through. Nothing escapes Him. Nothing can separate us.
It would seem that a being with this kind of power would
never cry. I mean, what do you have to cry about if you already know
everything and can change any outcome? It's a mystery.
I've heard the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead
all of my life. Every theologian has his or her own take on why
Jesus wept. I think He wept for simple reasons. He was sad that His
friend died and sad that His friends (Lazarus's sisters) were sad. It's
a moment where we glimpse the vulnerability of being human - a God
who fully enters into the experience of death, loss, and pain. A God
like us, with us, in order to know us.
I need no other explanation of why Jesus wept. Because while
it might be interesting to imagine that He cried from a place of
infinite understanding - for reasons I can't fathom - it's more important
to me that He understands my pain. He understands what it means to
be human, powerless, and speechless in the face of death. To gaze
into the chasm and see darkness staring back. Resurrection came for
Lazarus and his sisters, but not before Jesus wept. by Gwen Ford

there. Today do something that demonstrates you trust the God Who
cries. [Mornings With Jesus 2018 Devotional by Guideposts and
