John 6:35 - JESUS - The Bread of Life!

John 6:35 (KJV) And Jesus said unto them, I 
am the bread of life: he that cometh to me 
shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me 
shall never thirst. 

COMMENTARY PEARL

   I'm generally cheerful and don't get 
cranky very often. When I do, it's usually because 
I'm hungry. I get impatient and snippy at loved 
ones over the simplest things. All I know is when 
my stomach is growling, I growl with it. And I 
will eat just about anything that's edible. Most 
of the time, I reach for potato chips. (I guess 
that's why experts warn to never go food shopping 
when you're hungry.) 
   Jesus was human, too, and knew exactly 
how uncomfortable hunger could be. That's why He 
felt compassion for the crowd that followed Him 
into the hills to hear Him preach (Matthew 
14:14). They'd been with Him all day and were hungry 
- all five thousand of them! When the 
disciples thought He should just send them on their 
way, Jesus refused. You know the rest of the 
story: He fed them all "as much as they wanted' 
(John 6:11) with only two small fish and five 
barley loaves given to him by a young boy in the 
crowd. 
   Empty stomachs aren't the only things 
Jesus fills in our time of need. He sees our 
spiritual hunger too. When we forget to feast on God's 
Word, our spirits begin to crave the "bread from 
heaven" (John 6:31), nourishment that only Jesus can 
provide - His healing touch, comfort, provision, or 
protection. Anything else is junk food - a poor
