John 14:6 - The 6th I AM Statement of Jesus The Way-maker!
John 14:6 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, "I am
the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes
to the Father except through Me.
Twenty-three times in all we find our
Lord's meaningful "I AM" in the Greek text of this
Gospel 4:26; 6:20, 35, 41, 48, 51; 8:12, 18, 24,
28, 58; 10:7, 9, 11, 14; 11:25; 13:19; 14:6;
15:1, 5; 18:5, 6, 8). In several of these, He
joins His "I AM" with seven tremendous metaphors
which are expressive of His saving relationship
toward the world.
"I AM the Bread of life" (6:35, 41, 48,
"I AM the Light of the world" (8:12).
"I AM the Door of the sheep" (10:7, 9).
"I AM the Good Shepherd" (10:11, 14).
"I AM the Resurrection and the Life"
"I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life"
"I AM the true Vine" (15:1, 5).

Mini golf is a funny place to think about
Jesus, but thats what I found myself doing. Club
in hand, each member of our family took turns
aiming the ball toward tiny holes in fake barns or
used advanced geometry to compute bank shots. As
I watched, I saw similarities to the unique
routes each of us chose for our faith journeys.
Though our goals were identical, we all
attacked the challenge differently. My son-in-law
studied the various traps and used great care for
each shot, a reflection of the thoughtful way he
lives his faith. My daughter kidded around until
the moment she swung the club; then she
concentrated on the shot. Secure as she is in her place
with Jesus, her joy is infectious, her witness
focused and effective. My husband seemed to follow
the longest route to the hole, as if on purpose.
He relishes every moment with the Lord,
spending valuable time in the Bible and serving
I just whacked the ball and hoped. For
years Ive relied on Jesus to direct me past the
tricky anthills and blind shots of life, trusting
in Him to guide me along the way. Even if I
smack the ball completely off the course, He
always lets me back in the game.
The eighteenth hole was simple - one
stroke. Each of our balls circled the hole and then
disappeared. Like the variances in how we live out our
faith, we all acknowledge there are many ways to
Jesus - but only one way to the Father. Jesus. Our
hole in One. By Heidi Gaul

I will never forget the day I found out
the truth about Santa Claus. Even though I had
been a staunch defender of the big, generous,
bearded man in red,
I finally discovered the truth. The stack of
would-be Santa presents was carefully hidden in the
back of the garage - but unfortunately, not
Devastated, dazed, and distressed, I
demanded my mom tell me the truth. And so she did. My
footing felt unstable. The world seemed to spin
faster. And I suddenly felt sick to my stomach.
If Santa wasn't real, what else wasn't
real? Suddenly the Tooth Fairy was in question.
And of course there was the Easter Bunny. And
then there was God. Suddenly my childhood faith
seemed more unsure.
What is true?
Thankfully over time, I've learned that
truth is not just an idea. Truth is a person.
Jesus is the truth. It amazes me to know that
James, the brother of Jesus, believed that Jesus
was truth. What would your brother have to do to
convince you he is the Son of God?
And Peter, who repeatedly denied Christ,
believed that Jesus was truth. So much so that he
died for his belief in Christ. Ten of the twelve
disciples died for truth. (Judas hanged himself, and
John died in exile after surviving being dipped
in boiling oil.)
If you occasionally experience doubts, as
many of us do, remember the truth. Jesus is
truth. And the truth will set you free.
Jesus, I'm so grateful you were willing
to come to earth as a baby and live as a man.
But I'm also thankful you are God's Son and the
absolute truth. [Daily Power by Craig Groeschel]
