Psalm 5:3 - God in The Morning And All Day Long.

Psalm 5:3 (NIV) In the morning, O LORD, you
hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests
before you and wait in expectation.

COMMENTARY PEARL

Morning has always been considered the
time best suited for personal worship by God's
servants. Most Christians regard it as a privilege to
devote the beginning of the day to seek fellowship
with God. Whether they think of a whole hour or
half an hour or a quarter of an hour, they agree
with the psalmist when he said, '"My voice shalt
thou hear in the morning, 0 Lord."
A well-known Christian leader has said,
"Next to receiving Christ as Savior and claiming
the baptism of the Holy Spirit, we know of no
act that brings greater good to ourselves or
others than the determination to keep the morning
watch and spend the first half hour of the day
alone with God." At first glance this statement
appears too strong. The determination to keep the
morning watch hardly appears sufficiently important
to be compared to receiving Christ and the
baptism of the Holy Spirit. However, it is true that
it is impossible to maintain a Christian walk
in the leading and power of the Holy Spirit,
without daily fellowship with God. The morning watch
is the position in which the surrender to
Christ and the Holy Spirit can be fully
maintained.
The morning watch must not be regarded as
an end in itself. It is to serve to secure the
presence of Christ for the whole day. To abide in
Him, kept by Him, doing His will"this cannot be
an irregular practice if we are truly devoted
to Him.
The believer who has made devotion to
Christ his watchword will find in the morning hour
the place where his holy calling is renewed.
During this quiet time, his will is fortified to
walk worthy of his calling. (See Ephesians 4:1.)
His faith is rewarded by the presence of Christ
who is waiting to meet him and take charge of
him for the day. '"We are more than conquerors
through him that loved us" (Romans 8:37). A living
Christ waits to meet us. [Andrew Murray 365-Day
Devotional Bible by Barbour]

COMMENTARY

Just as a morning routine of a good
breakfast is healthy for the body, so a morning
routine of prayer and Bible reading is nourishing
for the spirit. It's like a daily Sabbath when
we take time away from our responsibilities to
sit at the Lord's feet. We lay our requests
before him and wait expectantly for him to answer.
Sometimes all we need is the reminder of his gracious
presence surrounding us.
The Bible says, "Your word, LORD, is
eternal; it stands firm in the heavens" (Psalm
119:89). No matter what else is going on in our
lives, God's Word is sure. The Bible also says, "I
will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out
your precepts" (Psalm 119:45). True freedom comes
from seeking out, absorbing, and living by God's
ways. Daily time with even a small portion of
God's Word connects us to him for the day.
When we wait expectantly for the Creator
of the universe each morning, he draws near to
us and restores our souls. [The Daniel Plan
365-Day Devotional]

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

Morning by morning I awaken you and open
your understanding to My will. I'm always mindful
of you, beloved. I never sleep, so I'm able to
watch over you while you're sleeping. When you
wake up in the morning, I am still with you. As
you become aware of My loving Presence, I help
you become more alert - smoothing out the
tangles in your mind and enabling you to see Me more
clearly. I invite you to spend time enjoying My
Presence and nourishing your soul with My Word. When
you respond to My Love-call by drawing nearer to
Me, I am delighted.
This time dedicated to Me blesses and
strengthens you immensely. I open your understanding to
My Word - enabling you to comprehend Scripture
and apply it to your life. As you make plans for
your day, I help you discern My will. This
collaboration with Me empowers you to handle whatever
comes your way as you go through the day. I am
training you to trust Me at all times - in all
circumstances. (Isa. 50:4; Psa. 139:17, 18; Jam. 4:8; Psa.
62:8) [Jesus Always by Sarah Young]
