John 15:7 - It Will Cost You the World.

John 15:7 (CEV) Stay joined to me and let my
teachings become part of you. Then you can pray for
whatever you want, and your prayer will be answered.

John 15:7 (AMPC) If you live in Me [abide
vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and
continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you
will, and it shall be done for you.

COMMENTARY PEARL

Someone once approached a great Bible
teacher and said, Sir, I would give the world to
know the Bible as you do.
The teacher looked at him and replied,
And thats exactly what it will cost you.
Romans 12 tells us, And do not be
conformed to this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is
that good and acceptable and perfect will of
God (verse 2 NKJV).
How can our minds be transformed? It will
happen through the study of Gods Word. In Acts
17 we read about those in the synagogue at
Berea who listened very carefully when Paul and
Silas showed up: These were more fair-minded
than those in Thessalonica, in that they received
the word with all readiness, and searched the
Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were
so. Therefore many of them believed, and also
not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well
as men (verses 10"11 NKJV).
I love that they listened eagerly and
checked up on what they had to say. They were
checking out none other than the apostle Paul, who
wrote a good part of the New Testament. That is
the right way to listen.
Jesus said, If you abide in Me, and My
words abide in you, you will ask what you desire,
and it shall be done for you (John 15:7
NKJV). The word abide means planting your roots
deeply into Christ, soaking up the nutrients,
growing each and every day, staying in a given
place. It is staying in fellowship with Him. That
means you study Gods Word. That means you
memorize it. And ultimately it means that it affects
your thinking, your living, and everything you
do. We need to approach Gods Word this way.

COMMENTARY

I'm trimming the amount of "but maybe
I'll need this" items from my packing process
when preparing for a flight, but have not yet
perfected the skill. My luggage was overweight.
Again.
On the return trip, I'd reorganized what
went in my carry-on bag versus what I could send
through my checked bag. My "feels like forty-five
pounds" technique turned out to be fairly accurate.
So I pulled my Bible from my purse - the heavy,
study-helps kind - and asked the airline representative
if I could add my Bible to the checked bag
before it hit the conveyor belt.
   "Certainly." Then she added, smiling,
"Although, it would make good reading material for the
flight."
Her words held significant meaning for
me. I don't want to be far from my Bible. Even
the distance between the hold of the plane and
where I would sit seemed vast. But her assessment
described my need to keep my Bible close for the
flight called life.
With technological advances, we're not as
used to the idea of frequently consulting a
manual as we navigate a difficult assignment. We
may watch a tutorial on YouTube. Or click a link
that solves a specific dilemma instantly. But
life is a flight that requires constant reference
to the flight manual - the Bible.
Jesus saw to it that His words would be
recorded in the Bible as an expression of eternal
truth and a record of His teaching and His love
for us. Don't leave home without it. by Cynthia

Faith Step: Did you learn how to spell
the word Bible, like I did, from the song, 'The
B-I-B-L-E. Yes, that's the book for me. I stand alone
on the Word of God, the B-I-B-L-E!"? Let that
song be your background music today. [Mornings
