Isaiah 55:11 - The Power of Gods Word.

Isaiah 55:11 (NIV) so is my word that goes
out from my mouth: It will not return to me
empty, but will accomplish what I desire and
achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11 (NLT) It is the same with my
word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to, and it
will prosper everywhere I send it.

INTRODUCTION

The creative energy that called the
worlds into existence is in the word of God. This
word imparts power; it begets life. Every command
is a promise; accepted by the will, received
into the soul, it brings with it the life of the
Infinite One. It transforms the nature and re-creates
the soul in the image of God.  {Ed 126.4}
The life thus imparted is in like manner
sustained. "By every word that proceedeth out of the
mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4) shall man live. {Ed
126.5}
The mind, the soul, is built up by that
upon which it feeds; and it rests with us to
determine upon what it shall be fed. It is within the
power of everyone to choose the topics that shall
occupy the thoughts and shape the character. Of
every human being privileged with access to the
Scriptures, God says, "I have written to him the great
things of My law." "Call unto Me, and I will answer
thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which
thou knowest not." Hosea 8:12; Jeremiah 33:3.
{Ed 126.6}

COMMENTARY PEARL

Expect Success
   The 19th-century English preacher Charles
H. Spurgeon, known as the Prince of
Preachers, recalled a time when a young man approached
him for advice.
I have preached in the streets, the
young man told him, and I have seen no
converts.
Do you expect people to be converted
every time you preach? Spurgeon asked.
   No, sir.
That is the reason you do not
succeed, said Spurgeon, because you do not expect
to do so.
When I preach the gospel, I expect people
to come to Christ - because there is power in
the gospel. It impacts people. So I expect it.
When we share the gospel, we should
expect God to bless it. Speaking to the prophet
Isaiah, God said of His word, I send it out, and
it always produces fruit. It will accomplish
all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere
I send it (Isaiah 55:11 NLT).
No doubt you know someone who doesnt
want to hear about the Lord. They dont want to
hear you talk about the Bible. And they dont
want an invitation to church.
Maybe youve written them off, because
every time you engage them in a conversation, it
turns into a conflict. But let me ask you
something: Will you focus your prayers in particular on
those difficult people? They may, in fact, be
closer to coming to Christ than you realize.
Sometimes, one of the reasons a person
will strike out at you when you share the gospel
is because theyre under the conviction of
the Holy Spirit. That very reaction could be a
good sign rather than a bad one. So pray for
those people.
   William Carey said, Attempt great
things for God. Expect great things from God.
That is what we need to do as followers of Jesus
Christ. [Greg Laurie from Harvest Ministries;

COMMENTARY

Praying the Word and Finding the Answers
Yesterday I invited you to use the Psalms
- especially the questions in Psalm 77 - to
express your emotions toward God. Something happens
when we handpick a portion of God's Word to voice
our heart-wrenching questions, "For the word of
God is living and active" (Hebrews 4:12).
There's power in God's Word. When we search the
Scriptures to find words to wrap around our
wretchedness, we are speaking God's language. And God
answers.
Jesus sets the example. When it comes to
heartfelt questions and emotional pain, Jesus
experienced both like no human ever has. He did not
linger in the damp fog of Gethsemane. He moved in
the direction of his Father and proceeded to the
cross. There, he aimed his cries God-ward, not
choosing his own words to wrap around his
wretchedness, but - you guessed it - the words of a Psalm.
"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" he
groaned, quoting Psalm 22:1. Praise his name, you and
I became God's answer to Jesus' plea!
This does not mean our questions get
answers. It doesn't mean cancer gets cured, wars
cease, and drunk drivers stay at home. But God will
respond to his Word. Instead of answers, we will
find the Answer. When we turn toward God in our
heartache, he promises our anguished hearts will find
Jesus. And he is the One who holds all the answers
- and all the questions - in his hand.
I turn to you today, dear God. I voice
your word. Thank you for listening. Thank you for
moving in my life. [Joni Eareckson Tada Daily
