COMMENTARY PEARL

   The doorbell rang at 10:00 a.m. Monday. 
Id been busy for four hours already, unpacking 
boxes after moving over the weekend, and I knew 
many hours of work lay ahead. The thought of 
entertaining an unexpected guest held no appeal.  
   My lack of enthusiasm for company changed 
to delight when I opened the door and saw 
Larry, my Sunday school teacher, standing there. He 
grinned. Im at your service, he said. I 
read your Facebook post about unpacking, and I 
thought you could use some help. Put me to work. 
 
   Besides his willingness to lend a hand, 
Larry brought gifts - a pair of rubber gloves for 
cleaning, and a roasted chicken. I figured you 
might be able to use this for dinner tonight, 
he said as he handed me the bird.  
   Larry spent two hours washing dusty light 
fixtures that day. Then he assembled a set of storage 
drawers before other duties called him away. I 
see you have another set of drawers to 
assemble, he said before he left. Let me take those 
with me. Ill work on them tonight and bring 
them over tomorrow.  
   Jesus stooped before His disciples and 
washed their feet. Larry stooped and washed my 
light fixtures, assembled drawers, and brought me 
a roasted chicken. He modeled Jesus and taught 
me what true servant leadership looks like. by

needs a foot washing, so to speak. Resolve to 
bless that person with an enthusiastic servants
