COMMENTARY PEARL

When people ask me to pray for them, I
always try to do it immediately. That way, I
dont forget. Its also a good thing to ask
other Christians to remember us in prayer when
were facing a crisis. Without question, theres
power in unified prayer.
Jesus said, If two of you agree here
on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father
in heaven will do it for you. For where two or
three gather together as my followers, I am there
among them (Matthew 18:19-20 NLT).
Hes also in Heaven interceding for us
right now. The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ
is able, once and forever, to save those who
come to God through him. He lives forever to
intercede with God on their behalf (Hebrews 7:25
NLT).
And the apostle Paul wrote, Who then
will condemn us? No one - for Christ Jesus died
for us and was raised to life for us, and he is
sitting in the place of honor at Gods right hand,
pleading for us (Romans 8:34 NLT).
   Robert Murray MCheyne, a 19th-century
Scottish pastor, said, If I could hear Christ
praying for me in the next room, I would not fear a
million enemies. Yet the distance makes no
difference; he is praying for me.
By the way, Jesus Christ prayed a lot
when He walked among us. He was always praying to
the Father. We see Him praying all night on a
mountain, praying before He chose the 12 apostles, and
praying in the Garden of Gethsemane as He
contemplated the horrors of the cross. We also see Him
praying from the cross.
So if Jesus, being God, felt the
necessity to pray, then how much more should we? With
all of our shortcomings and weaknesses, how much
more should we follow the example that Jesus set
for us? [Greg Laurie from Harvest Ministries;

COMMENTARY

What is Christ doing in heaven? He is
interceding for us. By His work the threshold of heaven
is flushed with the glory of God which will
shine upon every soul who will open the windows of
the soul heavenward. As the prayers of the
sincere and contrite ones ascend to heaven Christ
says to the Father, "I will take their sins. Let
them stand before you innocent." As He takes
their sins from them, He fills their hearts with
the glorious light of truth and love (MS 28,
1901). 7BC930,1

   Scottish minister Robert Murray
MCheyne said, If I could hear Christ praying for
me in the next room, I would not fear a million
enemies. Yet distance makes no difference; He is
praying for me.
The Bible says of Jesus, Therefore He
is also able to save to the uttermost those who
come to God through Him, since He always lives to
make intercession for them (Hebrews 7:25
NKJV).
What does Jesus pray when He intercedes
for us? This is important to know, because in
finding the answer to that question we can discover
Gods plan and purpose for us. And that is the
objective of prayer: to align our wills with the will
of God.
In John 17 we have the greatest prayer
ever prayed, which is Jesus prayer for us. In
verse 11 Jesus prayed, Now I am no longer in
the world, but these are in the world, and I
come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name
those whom You have given Me, that they may be one
as We are (NKJV).
Jesus prayed for our preservation. God
wants us to be strong spiritually. God want us to
cross the finish line with flying colors. We all
know people who have made a profession of faith
and were growing so much spiritually that we may
have even looked up to them as spiritual leaders.
But then one day they crashed and burned. They
simply walked away from the faith.
We think, If someone like that could
fall, then maybe I could fall, too. Am I next?
The answer to that question may surprise
you: its entirely up to you.
God wants to keep you, and God will keep
you. He will keep you to the end. The question is
whether you want to be kept. [Greg Laurie from

He Is Able
   Able... able-bodied... disabled...
disability. As a quadriplegic, I am very familiar with
the word, "able." There is so much I am not able
to do, whether it's playing the piano,
embroidering, vacuuming, holding a pen or pencil, or
peeling an orange. My muscles simply aren't capable
(another one of those words with 'able' in it).
This is why I love the many verses in
scripture which describe our God as able. Today's
verse reminds us God is able to save completely.
Because Jesus lives and is no longer subject to
death, he is able to utterly save and to extend his
salvation to anyone who comes to God through him.
Second Timothy 1:12 assures us God is able to keep
saving us all the way until the day we go to Glory.
First Chronicles 17:10 tells us God is able to
subdue all of our enemies, including the powers of
darkness who try to erode our joy and peace of mind.
Philippians 3:21 reminds us God is the authoritative
ruler, able to subdue all things to himself.
Finally in Matthew 9:28, Jesus asks a troubled blind
man, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?"
I want to be like that blind man. I may
have a disability, but my confidence rests in the
Savior. I say with the blind man, "Yes, Lord, have
your way in my life."
If you have a disability, God can be your
"ability." Plan a study around the verses listed today
and celebrate Ephesians 3:20-21, "Now to him who
is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask
or imagine.., to him be glory in the church and
in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for
ever and ever! Amen."
Lord Jesus, there is nothing missing in
your character or your ability to save, sustain,
succor, and subdue. I praise you because you are
ABLE! [Joni Eareckson Tada Daily Devotional:

CLOSING THOUGHT

You were caught committing a crime. The
trial date has arrived. The judge is known to be a
no-nonsense kind of guy. The evidence is clear. You're
guilty. Then your lawyer stands up. He is your
advocate in this courtroom. He doesn't lie. He
doesn't spin the story. The first thing he says is,
"This person is guilty." Now you know it's over.
But the next thing he says takes you by
surprise. But remember, Judge, that this person's
guilt has already been taken. This person doesn't
need to be punished because I took the punishment
myself." Your jaw would drop, to say the least.
Your sin had to be punished. God sent his
Son to pay the penalty for you, but his work on
your behalf didn't stop there. Jesus is in heaven
right now serving as your advocate, one who "lives
forever to intercede with God" on your behalf. Don't
wallow in guilt. Don't be overwhelmed by fear. The
Judge is on your side. He has dealt with your sin,
and he has provided an advocate for you. You've
been set free, so live like it! [The One Year
Bible for New Believers re Heb. 7:25]
