Psalm 23:6 - JESUS LOVE.
Psalm 23:6 (NIV) Surely goodness and love
will follow me all the days of my life, and I
will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
COMMENTARY PEARL
My dear friend Gayle passed away recently
after a tough battle with cancer. Some of the
world's goodness left with her. Authentic,
hilarious, and caring, she was one of my favorite
people. She mentored me in college and then became
an amazing elementary school teacher, beloved
by both her students and coworkers. She loved
her people like crazy. When I found out I was
going to be teaching middle school two years ago,
I called her. I was more than a little
apprehensive. She encouraged me, saying, "You can do this.
We will get you through it." She sent me a
teacher emergency kit containing a travel toothbrush
and toothpaste, deodorant, vitamin C, antacids,
and a small vial of air freshener. When I had
asked her about the air freshener, she told me,
"Every teacher gets sick to their stomach on the
first day of school. It's a given." We couldn't
stop laughing.
Yesterday, I found the emergency kit. As
I opened it, I began to cry. Gayle loved me in
the tiniest details. I felt it in her
encouragement, her thoughtfulness, and our shared joy.
Goodness and love followed her wherever she went. I
was blessed to be one of her people. We are
blessed to be Jesus' people. His goodness and love
spill out onto everyone who follows Him. His love
for us is unfathomable, unending, and precise.
He loves us in the tiniest details. He cares
for our hearts and minds, surrounds us with
hope, and lets His bright mercy intersect our
