John 14:3 - If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again....
John 14:3 (NKJV) And if I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come again and receive you
to Myself; that where I am, there you may be
also.
INTRODUCTION
Jesus' words show that the way to eternal
life, though unseen, is secure - as secure as your
trust in Jesus. He has already prepared the way to
eternal life. The only issue that may still be
unsettled is your willingness to believe.
There are few verses in Scripture that
describe eternal life, but these few verses are rich
with promises. Here Jesus says, "I am going to
prepare a place for you," and "I will come and get
you." We can look forward to eternal life because
Jesus has promised it to all who believe in him.
Although the details of eternity are unknown, we need
not fear because Jesus is preparing for us and
will spend eternity with us. [Life Application

COMMENTARY PEARL
A Beacon of Hope
The late C. S. Lewis in his remarkable
book Christian Behavior, said, "Hope is one of
the theological virtues." He meant that a
continual looking forward to the eternal world is not,
as some people think, a form of escapism or
wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian
is meant to do.
This does not mean we are to leave the
present world as it is. If you read history you will
find that the Christians who did the most for the
present world were those who thought the most of the
next. It is only since Christians have largely
ceased to think of the next world that they have
become so ineffective in this one. "Aim at heaven,"
said Lewis, "and you will get earth thrown in.
Aim at earth, and you will get neither."
In the midst of the pessimism, gloom, and
frustration of the present hour there is one bright
beacon of hope - and that is the promise of Jesus
Christ, "If I go and prepare a place for you, I will
come again and receive you to Myself" (John
14:3).
Paul said that if Christs death only
brings us hope for this life, we are to be pitied
(1 Corinthians 15:19)! Christ did die so that
we could endure earth but so that we could

CLOSING PEARL
Thus will be fulfilled Christs promise to
His disciples, I will come again, and receive
you unto Myself. John 14:3. Those who have
loved Him and waited for Him, He will crown with
glory and honor and immortality. The righteous
dead will come forth from their graves, and those
who are alive will be caught up with them to
meet the Lord in the air. They will hear the
voice of Jesus, sweeter than any music that ever
fell on mortal ear, saying to them, Your warfare
is accomplished. Come, ye blessed of My
Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from
the foundation of the world. Matthew 25:34.
Well might the disciples rejoice in the hope of
their Lords return. AA34
