2 Samuel 22:2 - A Solid Foundation.
2 Samuel 22:2 (NKJV) And he said: "The LORD
is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
COMMENTARY PEARL
My children used to sing a song in Sunday
school classes: The wise man built his house upon
the rock..." The wise man does build his house
upon the rock - the Lord Jesus Christ and His
Word - for nothing built of or on any other
substance will stand the test of time.
In big cities I often see wrecking balls
destroying old structures to make way for new ones.
Some of these "old structures' in America are
less than a hundred years old. In Europe,
buildings several centuries old are common. But even
these buildings will eventually be destroyed, by a
natural disaster if not by man.
Only what is built on the solid
foundation of Christ will last. Jesus said, "Everyone
who hears these words of mine and puts them into
practice is like a wise man who built his house on
the rock" (Matt. 7:24 NIV). Are you listening to
God's Word and putting it into practice every day?
Have you ever lost something valuable to
theft or natural disaster? Its sometimes hard
to come back from that kind of loss. But a
life built on Christ can never be shaken; joy,
peace, and salvation are eternally secure. [Hope
