Proverbs 23:7 - What You Think - - You Are!

Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV) For as he thinks in his
heart, so is he. "Eat and drink!" he says to you,
But his heart is not with you.

COMMENTARY PEARL

Hows Your Vision?
Experts tell us that we have 90,000 to
100,000 thoughts every day. Thats a lot, isnt
it?
Our thoughts are important because what
we think is what well do. Someone wisely
said, Sow a thought, reap an act; sow an act,
reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow
a character, reap a destiny.
Are you where you want to be as a
Christian? I hope your answer is no because a growing
believer will always see his or her need to continue
to grow. And when you think you dont need to
grow anymore, something isnt right.
After years of walking with the Lord, the
apostle Paul put it this way: Friends, dont
get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an
expert in all of this, but Ive got my eye on the
goal, where God is beckoning us onward - to Jesus.
Im off and running, and Im not turning
back (Philippians 3:13"14 MSG).
Paul continued, If any of you have
something else in mind, something less than total
commitment, God will clear your blurred vision -
youll see it yet! (verse 15 msg).
Sometimes we can have blurred vision.
When someone has 20/20 vision, it means they have
good eyesight. They see things with clarity. We
need that kind of vision as followers of Christ
because the Bible says that where there is no
vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:18 KJV).
I have found that where I look is where
Ill walk. In other words, if Im looking in a
certain direction, then that is the direction Im
walking. We dont generally look one way and walk
another way (unless were looking down at our cell
phones).
Where you look is where youll walk.
And what you think is what youll do. [Greg

COMMENTARY

How can we control our thoughts? Good or
evil actions begin with good or evil thoughts
(Pro.23:7). We are all aware that the hardest battle in
life is the struggle to think straight. People
who want to give up smoking have great
difficulty keeping their thoughts off cigarettes.
Alcoholics think constantly about drink, and lustful
persons keep thinking about sex. Proud people focus
on themselves, and dishonest people manufacture
crooked schemes.
Most people will admit that there are
some modes of thought that, of themselves, they
cannot overcome, even though they recognize them as
counterproductive. Mind training has some value, the exercise
of the will achieves results, but the problem
persists: the mind it not completely controllable in
respect to some attractive objects.
Is there a solution to this dilemma? Can
our thoughts ever be brought under control? The
answer is the Holy Spirit! [Adult SS quarterly
