Psalm 139:7-12 - God Is Omnipresence.

Psalm 139:7-12 (NKJV) Where can I go from
Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your
presence? 8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If
I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, And
dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 Even
there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand
shall hold me. 11 If I say, "Surely the darkness
shall fall on me," Even the night shall be light
about me; 12 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide
from You, But the night shines as the day; The
darkness and the light are both alike to You.

INTRODUCTION

Omnipresence. An attribute of God alone, by
which is meant that God is free from the laws or
limitations of space (see Psalm 139:7-10; Jeremiah
23:23-24; Hebrews 1:3; Acts 17:27-28; etc.). It is
essential to the right conception of God in this
respect that we avoid all materialistic notions of
His presence that confuse God with everything
and thus lead to pantheism. God is Spirit, and
His infinite presence is to be regarded in the
dynamical sense rather than in the sense of a
substance infinitely extended. He is distinct from all
His works while His power and intelligence and
goodness embrace and penetrate them all. New Unger's
Bible Dictionary.

COMMENTARY PEARL

God Is Enough
God uses common people for uncommon
works. Gideon, for example, was a simple sodbuster,
yet God turned this farmer into a leader and
used him to protect Israel. With only three
hundred men, Gideon defeated the mighty Midianite
army (Judges 7:1-25).
In this victory, Gideon learned what God
wants us to learn: all we need is the presence of
God. He is enough. His presence tilts the scales
in our favor.
The same God who was with Gideon is right
beside you. The two-dollar theological term for
this is omnipresence. Omni is the Latin prefix
for all." God's presence is all-encompassing.
Don't apply earthly physics to him. He does not
have size or spatial limitation. He is present in
every point of space with his whole being.
Which means, he is with you as you face
your armies. With you as you are wheeled into
surgery. With you as you enter the cemetery. With
you, always. [You Can Count On God by Max
Lucado]
