Titus 2:7 (NKJV) in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, INTRODUCTION Paul urges Titus to be a good example to those around him so that others might see Titus's good deeds and imitate him. Paul's life would give his words greater impact. If you want someone to act a certain way, be sure that you live that way yourself. Then you will earn the right to be heard, and your life will reinforce what you teach. [Life Application SB] COMMENTARY PEARL A police officer pulled over a distinguished-looking woman, the story goes, and asked why she had exceeded the speed limit. The old gentleman sitting in the passenger seat laughed and said, "Well, young man, we were speeding to get to the place before we forget where we're going!" Getting where we are going is important. Equally important are those who are following us because they are on the same journey; they just don't realize it yet. Older generations may have a hard time keeping up with the younger, but let's remember that as long as we are still breathing, we are leading the way. Are we good examples? While we have all made mistakes and would like to turn back the clock to correct some things, we know this is not possible. But the lessons we have learned from our failures and successes can help those following behind. The impact we can potentially have on them can mean the difference between leaving good memories or letting our lessons go to waste. What failure have you experienced that you can share to help someone else?
