John 3:16 - Love Languages.

John 3:16 (KJV) For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.

COMMENTARY PEARL

The five love languages developed by Gary
Chapman explain how we give and receive love. For
instance, my primary love language is acts of service.
I often express love by doing practical things
for people. I'll bake brownies or muffins, for
instance, and give them to our marina friends.
Similarly, I feel most valued when someone does an act
of service for me.
My husband's love languages are quality
time and physical touch. For years, I thought I
was showing him love by baking his favorite
cookies, cooking healthy meals, and packing his
lunches. In reality, he wished I would spend less
time in the kitchen and, instead, join him on the
couch to snuggle together and watch a movie. We
laughed when we finally figured out the disconnect,
and I've since learned to speak his love
languages more effectively.
Jesus understands our unique bents. He
also knows the universal need for people to feel
loved, so He assumed human form to communicate with
us in a language understandable to all. He
taught the message of unselfishness, forgiveness,
and eternal life through the spoken word, and
then He demonstrated it through His life, death,
and resurrection. He did the hardest thing ever
when He gave up His rights as God, humbled
Himself to become a servant, and died a shameful
death for our sake. Jesus's love language
supersedes all others, wouldn't you agree? Grace Fox
Faith Step: The five love languages are
acts of service, gifts, quality time, physical
touch, and words of affirmation. Identify yours and
those that apply to the people closest to you.
