close to every one of us. But he is not trapped in 
his creation--he is transcendent. God is the 
Creator, not the creation. This means that God is 
sovereign and in control, while at the same time he is 
close and personal. Let the Creator of the

COMMENTARY PEARL

   I find myself sitting for hours while 
working from home. I become so absorbed in what I'm 
doing that I forget to get up and move around. It 
didn't take long for my aging body, especially my 
knees, to signal that I had to make some changes. 
   Since I can't always break away for an 
outdoor walk or a treadmill workout, I decided that 
I would do something quick and easy that I 
enjoy: dance. I played a couple of my favorite R&B 
or funk tunes and shimmied in my kitchen when 
no one was watching. I loved the heart-pumping 
music and ability to freely move. 
   After a few days, it occurred to me that 
I could turn my midday dance party into a 
midday praise break. I remembered that King David 
danced before the Lord with all his might (2 Samuel 
6:14), so why not me? Instead of secular music, I 
chose contemporary gospel and Christian praise 
songs on my Alexa app. I waved my arms, jumped 
with joy, and sang loudly as I thanked Jesus for 
His goodness and mercy. The words of the songs 
and praise phrases energized my body and soul 
and revived my midday slump. 
   What started out as a desire to move away 
from my desk has turned into a daily praise party 
to exercise my body, mind, and soul. Barbranda
