1 John 1:7 - Heaven is Certain.

1 John 1:7 (NLT) But if we are living in the
light, as God is in the light, then we have
fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his
Son, cleanses us from all sin.

INTRODUCTION

Sin, by its very nature, brings death - that
is a fact as certain as the law of gravity.
Jesus did not die for his own sins; he had none.
Instead, by a transaction that we may never fully
understand, he died for the sins of the world. When we
commit our lives to Christ and thus identify
ourselves with him, his death becomes ours. He has
paid the penalty for our sins, and his blood has
purified us. Just as Christ rose from the grave, we
rise to a new life of fellowship with him (Romans
6:4). [Life Application SB]

COMMENTARY PEARL

Heaven is glorious, Heaven is perfect,
Heaven is joyous, and Heaven is active; but can we
know - really know - that it is also certain? Can
we know for certain that we will go there when
we die and that it will be our eternal home?
The Bible says yes!
Only one thing will keep you out of
Heaven, and that is your sin. God is absolutely pure
and holy, and even one sin - just one - would be
enough to banish you from His presence forever. But
Jesus Christ came to take away your sins by His
death on the cross and His resurrection from the
dead. The Bible says, "The blood of Jesus, his
Son, purifies us from all sin."
As long as you trust in yourself - your
goodness, your religious deeds, your inner hopes - for
your salvation, you will never have any lasting
assurance of your salvation. Our salvation depends
instead solely on Jesus Christ and what He has
already done for us. Our faith and trust must be in
Him, and not in ourselves.
Is your trust in God or yourself? [Peace
for Each Day by Billy Graham]
