1 Corinthians 1:31 - Let Him Who Boasts Boast In The Lord.

1 Corinthians 1:31 (NIV) Therefore, as it is
written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."

There is no cause for exaltation or for
boasting in any human achievement. The only thing in
which man can find any justifiable ground for
glorying is the fact that he knows the Lord Jesus
Christ as his personal Saviour. The wonder of the
love and wisdom of God, revealed in Christ, is an
inexhaustible source of praise and rejoicing, before which
all human wisdom and achievements fade into
total insignificance. [SDA Bible Commentary]

Every saint is in Christ Jesus (v.
30), and Christ is to every saint all that he or
she ever needs. When it comes to spiritual
things, we dont need mans wisdom or power
because we have Christ. He is our redemption, our
righteousness, our wisdom, our all. To add anything to
Christ or His cross is to diminish Him and His work
and rob them of their power. [Wiersbe Expository

The Bible admonishes over and over not to
think more highly of ourselves than we ought.
Here is a good example for us. The number of
Christians who serve the Lord publicly is relatively
small; those who do serve Him publicly might lean
towards pride. Paul helps us get it into proper
perspective, though. He reminds us that apart from Jesus
Christ, we can do nothing! Are you among the
pew-sitters? Or are you a planter? A waterer? Remember
that while we need to do our part, we must not
take the credit for the results. If we boast,
let us boast in the Lord! [In His Time; Walk
With Wisdom]
