Psalm 84:10 - Joy In Jesus.

Psalm 84:10 (NIV) Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

COMMENTARY PEARL

   Rest Assured: God doesn't just love you with a love that looks good from a distance. Your heavenly Father is a good Father, perfect in every season - so goodness is who He is.
   But how can you know that He is good? For one, you can draw close and examine His character and actually experience His goodness. The psalmist declared in Psalm 34:8 to "taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him." God is not afraid to invite you for a close inspection. In fact, He wants you to be near to Him. He knows that it is better to be in His house than anywhere else in the world.
   God's altar is holy, surrounded by awe and wonder. Yet even in that holy place you will find a welcome mat for all looking for a home - for all seeking to be close to their Maker. Because He is good, He's done all the work to ensure that you can walk closely with Him. That's why you can find peace and refuge near the very throne of the holy and good God.
   Dear God, You aren't pushing me away; You're calling me closer, to see You more fully and to love You more intimately. Draw me nearer. [Grace and Glory by Louie Giglio]

CLOSING PEARL

   Our dog, flash, has a new best friend. Our neighbors across the street have a half-Corgi, half-Chihuahua mix named Zito. Zito sits by his front window and waits for Flash to come outside. When I mention Zito's name, Flash cannot contain his excitement. He starts barking, his entire body wriggling with joy. He rushes to the front door, whining until I open it. I make sure that no cars are coming, because as soon as I open the door, he bounds across the lawn and meets Zito mid-street. His happiness is palpable. This is what he has been waiting for - time with his friend. His life is complete. Chasing each other and rolling in the grass together, you would think that they had been separated for months. This doggie meet-up happens every day, sometimes more than once. They never get tired of seeing each other. Whether animal or human, time in the presence of the ones we love is the best, isn't it?
   Jesus invites me into His presence every single day. He flings open His arms and waits for me to come to Him, alive with anticipation. He loves me more than anyone ever will. He cares for my body, mind, and spirit. He longs to calm my anxious heart and fill me with peace. What could be more beautiful and life-giving than being in His presence every single day?
