Isaiah 12:2 - God Is My Salvation, Strength and Song So I Trust Him and Do Not Fear.Isaiah 12:2 (ESV) "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation."COMMENTARY PEARL Sustaining Grace For Every Season Every day, we have the opportunity to truly embrace this incredibly simple yet incredibly profound reality: Jesus is enough. This promise acknowledges there won't always be happy endings to our resurrection stories, at least not here on earth. Things break in this life and can't always be repaired. Not every story has a happy conclusion. We don't understand the reasons God allows grief to come into our lives, but it does. Yet, within our journey, Jesus can become enough for us. This is called sustaining grace, a moment-by-moment grace. It's the type of grace that God offers for every moment of intense grief, frustration, sorrow, agony, or pain. This grace is a tailor-made grace specially designed for each person. It does not transfer over, and it's never repeated exactly the same way, and it's not experienced the same from person to person. This grace is specific. Timely. Personal. And you can be sure that God will provide His sustaining grace for you if and when you need it. Dear Lord, You have seen all my days before there was one, and therefore I can trust that You are my salvation, my strength, and my song. [Grace and Glory by Louie Giglio] COMMENTARY Salvation and Song Able to deadlift a staggering 500 kilos (about 1,102 pounds), Eddie Hall of Britain has repeatedly won strongest man competitions in his country. But what's that compared to the strength of God, who not only created the universe - 1053 kilos, or ten followed by 53 zeros - but sustains it? He keeps it all in place, "upholding all things by the word of His power" (Hebrews 1:3), and for a lot longer than Eddie Hall can hold 500 kilos! What a promise, then, is offered in this verse. God is "my salvation." Can you save yourself? Most of us can't go through a day without doing wrong, without sinning. Thus, the mere notion of trying to save ourselves should fill us with fear. In contrast, the Hebrew for "God is my salvation" reads literally "God my salvation." God is our salvation because our salvation is found in Him alone. Our God, a God of such power that He upholds the universe, the God who will raise the dead at the end of time - He is the one whom we must rely on, trust, and surrender to. He saves us, a theme repeated at the end of the verse today. You are nowhere near as strong as Eddie Hall, who, despite his great strength, could no more save himself than could the world's weakest man. In the tomb, Eddie won't deadlift anything. Your great hope, the fantastic assurance of us all, is the mighty power of God, always on display in the cosmos, which twinkles above your head and testifies to the unmatchable strength of a God who promises to save you personally. Lord Jesus, by Your great grace and strength, save me, a sinner. [The Most Amazing Bible Promises by Amazing Facts] CLOSING THOUGHT Whatever Comes As we trust God to guide us through this life, we should not expect to bypass pain. It is not possible! As long as we live in this world, we will experience the full spectrum of humanity. There is so much joy to experience, but there is also suffering. There is peace, love, and hope, and there is also disappointment, loss, and grief. It is not a failure to feel these things. The Spirit is known as the Comforter for a reason. Don't be afraid to recognize the hard aspects of life. Even in these moments you will grow in grace, love, and peace. You will have a deeper understanding of the mercy of Christ if you allow him to meet you in it. Trust, and don't be afraid of what comes. God is your salvation no matter what you walk through! Take his hand and trust him to be with you no matter what. Let the Lord's persistent presence be your reason for thanks today.
