Psalm 145:16 (NIV) You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

INTRODUCTION

Nature and revelation alike testify of God's love. Our Father in heaven is the source of life, of wisdom, and of joy. Look at the wonderful and beautiful things of nature. Think of their marvelous adaptation to the needs and happiness, not only of man, but of all living creatures. The sunshine and the rain, that gladden and refresh the earth, the hills and seas and plains, all speak to us of the Creator's love. It is God who supplies the daily needs of all His creatures. SC 9

COMMENTARY

Where You Can Find Ultimate Satisfaction
   In the 1960s, a song was written for recording artist Peggy Lee entitled, "Is That All There Is?" In it, Lee presents a very bleak outlook on the world. She's become disenfranchised with everything and asks the question, "Is that all there is?"
      Is that all there is, is that all there is?
      If that's all there is, my friends, then let's keep dancing.
      Let's break out the booze and have a ball.
      If that's all there is.
   The truth is that many people are asking this very same question. The Rolling Stones sang, "I can't get no satisfaction... I try and I try and I try..." And more recently, Nine Inch Nails at the height of their career sang, "You can have it all, my empire of dirt."
   Apart from Christ, life does have a very bleak outlook. People will try and try to find satisfaction in the world, yet that satisfaction will always elude them. But as C.S. Lewis said, "If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world."
   This world's offerings will always fall short of bringing you real and lasting joy. But rather than causing you to despair, let it point you to a greater focus on the life to come. That's where your true promise is, and where you'll find ultimate satisfaction! PowerPoint Today by Jack Graham,

Satisfied In Christ
   Here's a candid truth many of us have learned the hard way: you will never find true fulfillment in the things of this world.
   It's unfortunately all too common to look at a worldly source of provision - our jobs, our relationships, our social standing - and believe that these avenues will provide the contentment we seek. But as good as they may be, these things don't last. And when they begin to fade, if the stash is running low or just about finished, then we can find ourselves in a free fall of anxiety or sadness.
   Every worldly thing is fleeting, but God is not, and He provides by His own supernatural means. Rest assured, He is continually working out His miraculous plan - even though we may forget it, and even when our faith is too small to trust God for miracles.
   Only God can truly satisfy your desires and provide for you. Turn to Him and ask for what you need. Don't look to the left or right; instead, look up to God and let Him fulfill you today.
