Ephesians 3:12 - In Christ We Have Access To The Father.Ephesians 3:12 (NIV) In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.Ephesians 3:12 (NLT) Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God's presence. INTRODUCATION We have the awesome privilege of being able to approach God with freedom and confidence. Most of us would be apprehensive in the presence of a powerful ruler. But thanks to Christ, by faith we can enter directly into God's presence through prayer (see 2:18; Hebrews 4:16). We know we will be welcomed with open arms because we are God's children through our union with Christ. Don't be afraid of God. Talk with him about everything. He wants to hear from you. [Life Application SB 2019] COMMANTARY PEARL Access Granted As Christians in today's world, we can become complacent with the access we have to God and His Spirit. It's easy to forget that this level of communion hasn't always been available throughout history. We often lose perspective of how truly wondrous prayer and worship can be. In the Old Testament, God's people celebrated different feasts and special days, one of which was called the Day of Atonement. On this day each year, only one person - the high priest - was permitted to go into the presence of God. No one else had access, because before the life of Jesus, it was too dangerous for sinful people to worship so close to a righteous God. But on the day that Jesus died, the veil separating us from God ripped in two. In that moment, total access to the Father became available. Jesus' death brought about a new way of worship. No longer was God separated from man; He was near! Fill your heart with that miracle truth today. You have unfettered access to the God of the universe, so don't waste it by not worshiping Him with your whole life. Dear God, I don't take for granted that You've made a way for me to approach You. Thank You for being a God who breaks down barriers so that I may come to You in freedom and confidence.
