And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands."COMMENTARY PEARL Like the shepherd David, you may be facing a Goliath; a nine-foot-tall behemoth in your life that is intimidating and threatening you night and day. You might be up against past hurts, present disappointments, or future fears. If your giant is looming, the walls can feel like they're closing in. Darkness can seem to be overtaking the light. In the face of the seemingly impossible, fight to remember that the power of God remains greater than your giants. No matter the size of the problems. No matter the hits that keep coming at you from every side. By His strength, He's able to take them all out. The battle is His. If some form of bondage has tied you up, if some attitude can't be shaken, if some thought darkens your mind, turn to Jesus. Take heart because none of these are a match for our giant-killing Savior. Dear Father, I may feel surrounded by towering troubles, but You are my ever-present help and light. Guide me today.
