Jude 1:24, 25 - Now Unto Him Who Is Able...

Jude 1:24, 25 (KJV) Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen.

INTRODUCTION

One of the great benedictions of the NT. [Ryrie SB]

Jude ends his letter with one of the most beautiful statements of praise in Scripture. [College Press NIV Commentary]

COMMENTARY PEARL

Christ is coming with clouds and with great glory. A multitude of shining angels will attend Him. He will come to raise the dead, and to change the living saints from glory to glory. He will come to honor those who have loved Him, and kept His commandments, and to take them to Himself. He has not forgotten them nor His promise. There will be a relinking of the family chain. When we look upon our dead, we may think of the morning when the trump of God shall sound, when "the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." 1 Cor. 15:52. A LITTLE LONGER, AND WE SHALL SEE THE KING IN HIS BEAUTY. A LITTLE LONGER, AND HE WILL WIPE ALL TEARS FROM OUR EYES. A LITTLE LONGER, AND HE WILL PRESENT US "FAULTLESS BEFORE THE PRESENCE OF HIS GLORY WITH EXCEEDING JOY." Jude 24. Wherefore, when He gave the signs of His coming, He said, "When these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." DA 632

COMMENTARY

In Jude's day, like today, wolves - heretics and hypocrites, imposters and idolaters - lived among the flocks of God's sheep. God's Spirit, however, enables those in a relationship with Him to recognize these predators. Relying on the Spirit, we won't be fooled by corrupt people seeking to destroy Christ's body and exploit the faith of believers.
The forces of evil that sought to undermine Christ's earthly ministry continue to assault His church today. But the almighty God, who empowered His Son to win the victory over Satan, continues to sustain believers. God warns that the end times will see an increase in adversity against His people, but He also promises that through His strength victory is assured.
Don't let your circumstances or spiritual failures discourage you. Your spiritual victory is not based on your wisdom, your strength, or your ingenuity. It depends entirely upon Christ and His ability to hold you in His hand. He is more than able; He can cleanse you from every impurity; and His forgiveness will allow you to one day stand faultless before Him. Amen! [Being Still With God Every Day by Henry Blackaby]

CLOSING THOUGHT

To be sinless and perfect ("without fault") will be the ultimate condition of the believer when he or she finally sees Christ face to face. When Christ appears, and we are given our new bodies, we will be like Christ (1 John 3:2). Coming into Christ's presence will be more wonderful than we could ever imagine! [Life Application SB]
