Jeremiah 33:3 - Prayer Reveals Marvelous And Wonderful Things From God.

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.

Jeremiah 33:3 (MSG) Call to me and I will answer you. I'll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.

INTRODUCTION

God is ready to answer our prayers, but we must come to him. Surely God could take care of our needs without our asking - but when we do ask, we are acknowledging that he alone is God and that he is all-powerful. We cannot accomplish in our own strength all that is in his domain to do. When we ask, we must humble ourselves, lay aside our willfulness and worry, and determine to obey him. [Life Application SB 2019]

COMMENTARY PEARL

We may keep so near to God that in every unexpected trial our thoughts will turn to Him as naturally as the flower turns to the sun. Keep your wants, your joys, your sorrows, your cares, and your fears before God. You cannot burden Him; you cannot weary Him.... Take to Him everything that perplexes the mind. Nothing is too great for Him to bear, for He holds up worlds, He rules over all the affairs of the universe. Nothing that in any way concerns our peace is too small for Him to notice. There is no chapter in our experience too dark for Him to read; there is no perplexity too difficult for Him to unravel. SC99-100

He [Jesus] says, "My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." He bids them seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and His promise is that all things needful to them for this life shall be added. Worry is blind, and cannot discern the future; but Jesus sees the end from the beginning. In every difficulty He has His way prepared to bring relief. Our heavenly Father has a thousand ways to provide for us, of which we know nothing. Those who accept the one principle of making the service and honor of God supreme will find perplexities vanish, and a plain path before their feet.  DA330

COMMENTARY

Now, there are reserved and special things in Christian experience: all the developments of spiritual life are not alike easy of attainment. There are the common frames and feelings of repentance, and faith, and joy, and hope, which are enjoyed by the entire family; but there is an upper realm of rapture, of communion, and conscious union with Christ, which is far from being the common dwelling-place of believers. We have not all the high privilege of John, to lean upon Jesus' bosom; nor of Paul, to be caught up into the third heaven. There are heights in experimental knowledge of the things of God which the eagle's eye of acumen and philosophic thought hath never seen: God alone can bear us there; but the chariot in which he takes us up, and the fiery steeds with which that chariot is dragged, are prevailing prayers. Prevailing prayer is victorious over the God of mercy, "By his strength he had power with God: yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us." Prevailing prayer takes the Christian to Carmel, and enables him to cover heaven with clouds of blessing, and earth with floods of mercy. Prevailing prayer bears the Christian aloft to Pisgah, and shows him the inheritance reserved; it elevates us to Tabor and transfigures us, till in the likeness of his Lord, as he is, so are we also in this world. If you would reach to something higher than ordinary grovelling experience, look to the Rock that is higher than you, and gaze with the eye of faith through the window of importunate prayer. When you open the window on your side, it will not be bolted on the other. [Spurgeon, Charles H., Morning and Evening]

QUESTION

Why is Jeremiah 33:3 sometimes referred to as God's phone number?

Jeremiah 33:3 is referred to as "God's phone number" because it is seen as a direct, always-open line for communication with God, promising an immediate response and revelation of, "great and unsearchable things". The verse states, "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know" (NIV).
   Key Reasons for this Reference:
o An Invitation to Call: It is a direct command/invitation from God to seek Him, especially in times of trouble or uncertainty.
o "Call unto me, and I will answer": The promise highlights that God is accessible, ready to listen, and never puts his children on hold.
o "Show you great and mighty things": It signifies that prayer provides access to wisdom and understanding beyond human capacity.
o A "Direct Line" Concept: The phrase is often used to emphasize that prayer is not a complex ritual but a direct, personal, and constant conversation with God, usable anytime.
The verse was originally given to the prophet Jeremiah while he was imprisoned, serving as a message of hope and divine intervention during a time of distress. AI
